Same old Giambattista, lots of mini florals, lot of frills, long dramatic dresses, knee length and less mini this time, lots of delicate prints with those gorgeous strap”y” boots that bring a stronger edge to this overflowing femininity.
Yes so I have disappeared for a while, but I want to carry on with my blog and include more post with more regularity. But since I got here so much has happened and I completely put it at the back of any of my priorities. As well I was and I am still taking my driving test, that takes up your time.
However Paris Haute Couture is happening I am writing this, it’s my favourite show and an itch got the better of me and I had to share my favourite looks with you and with my self…
Starting with Giambattista Valli is doing another classic collection and full of flowers from Paris’s garden as an hommage to the city finishing with his customary tulle ball gowns.
So as most of you well informed people already know the Fall Haute Couture show has started!! And as you are so well informed you know by now that I am also late! but in fashion lateness is ok, and I have been enjoying too much my first 4th of July in New York, so I haven’t been blogging a lot… (and any spare time has been dedicated to my class presentation happening tomorrow at Parson’s, I will share with you all my mood boards and all once it’s over I can relax a little..)
Revenons a nos moutons, (meaning let’s get back to the subject here!) ZTHE COUTURE!! yes so I decided this time to put it all mixed up as it is nice to see together what designers are thinking and imagining in their looks.
Dior Fall 2015 Couture Ulyana Sergeenko Fall 2015 Couture Giambattista Vali Fall 2015 Couture Balmain Resort 2016 Ok I admit that’s the odd one out! but I found those intricate lacy (?) dresses so chic and very sexy couldn’t resist!! Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture in her signature pink obviously! I love that head drawing print (is that how you said it?) Anyway loved it..

Haute Couture are always my favourite shows! I love the glamour the ideas, the inspiration, and how much the ideas can be pushed and the drama it all creates. It’s not the average clothing to wear on a day to day but it’s all about having that imagination that is set loose. What I also love with couture show is that although it is unattainable cost wise, the look itself can be recreated (loosely) from a detail you liked or a shape that you found interesting, or a silhouette that caught your eye.
Couture is Schiaparelli and this time with no main designer. The vision for the collection seems a bit lost. It’s more a classic approach and more diluted, looks that you could imagine were from Schiaparelli but no whaou moments.
Chanel is always synonymous of couture, bien sure! This time it’s a magical all electronic floral garden that Lagarfeld dreamed up. I Love the crop jackets that looks as if they shrunk in the wash. There is an odd combination of 60’s silhouettes mixed with Edwardian hats galore, an ankle gazing length on the dresses and beanies all wrapped around lots and lots of electronic flowers (that apparently took 6 months to make!). Is that our future? Sound a bit too science fiction to my taste but hey it’s Chanel!
What I didn’t like so much is the expression on the girls, they were a bit moody… anyhow Chanel is always beautiful, extraordinaire and a bit dreamy…
I feel this time the flowers stole the show. I mean look at the intricacy of those on this dress! It’s like they are coming alive! I mean I am a sucker for flowers, anything floral and this definitely will be haunting my dreams.
Giambattista imagined an impossible conversation between Janis Joplin and Coco Chanel, so fun and interesting as always. So both women love men’s clothing. Each wears it in an unique way and make it their own that is still so feminine.
I love fluffiness of the skirts the ho so flouncy silk, the frilly tops, the embroidered details that are so Vali, but then you have the little Jacket that is so Coco, and the cocktail dresses layered with trousers so Janis. Again those things can be recreated in what you own in your wardrobe or at least make you think how you layer your clothes or otherwise you could do a bit of vintage shopping down at the market. Lots of inspiration you can draw from all these looks.

I Love Giambattista’s vision of luxury or couture I might say for this collection…
A girl wakes, maybe she’s still dressed from the night before, maybe she swathes herself in a striped sheet or slips into her beau’s pj’s. It’s bright so she puts on sunglasses. Her head hurts. She wraps it in a napkin from the champagne bucket. And she goes for a walk in the garden. By Tim Blanks.
I wish that was me… Such an romantic idea…
I decided not to show you Dior or Chanel either as I am bit tired of the overload on instagram and the internet. Everyone is talking about these two shows, (well I am now..but not so long). I wasn’t such a massive fan of these two last shows. So instead I decided to talk about Giambattista Valli, it’s a brand I really liking more and more. It started with some really beautiful print few seasons ago (a summer collection obviously) that I noticed this brand. I really like Giambattista Valli’s new collection for fall 2013.
I love the van like flat shoes with the high slit draped dress. Very simple colour palette, with really wearable clothes. I can see myself actually wearing most of the looks (or it will be probably someone else that has a bigger wallet than mine).
Here again the loafers, create a really nice contrast on the white trousers. Well it looks like it’s going to be winter white again next season, will need to invest in some kind of a white element in my wardrobe, maybe some trousers?
Found this mint green coat such a refreshing addition, although I have to keep reminding myself it’s a winter collection, I would wear this coat in a heart beat, and everyday! (well would find ways to make it work you know…)
Ok totally obsessed with this red coat!

Lots of white again. Such gorgeous pieces at Giambattista Valli. There is a refinement that makes the clothes effortlessly chic and wearable. The girls hair is really nice too very much fuss free. I love love this collection. I mean the stunningly simple white dresses are to die for. I think it is time to invest in a little white dress what do you think?
I means I was already thinking since reading this article in Vogue on how our attitude to shop is changing, to clear my wardrobe, and start dressing a bit more grown up and chic. And start to invest in pieces I do love and will treasure for many many years to come. I was thinking to instead always look at trends an so on, start to look at vintage. why not? anyway will do keep you updates on that.
